Back in oracle 11g, Oracle were talking about adding a view to show dependencies down to the column level (dba_dependencies_columns). Does anyone know what ever happened to this view?

I don't think Oracle ever talk about this view, I remember some (out of Oracle) talked about how nice it would be to have this view. Smile
Fine-grained dependency was introduced in 11g recorded bit wised in sys.dependency.d_attrs column.

Bummer. Thanks. I will check out sys.dependency.d_attrs

While searching for information on the table I came across a script that actually builds a functioning DBA_DEPENDENCY_COLUMNS view. see the following url

Of course the problem with that view is that it is a customer-create view that depends on undocumented data dictionary tables. Since it was create at 11g it can be assumed to work with 11g but, in spite of the author's comment "needless to say this script will only work on Oracle 11g or up"(emphasis mine) there is no guarantee at all that it will work with "and up".

That is true, but I am currently on 12.2 and it is working correctly. So until oracle gets off their backside and makes a view for use by their customers I will use this one
