I am trying to install oracle 8i on IBM Server running AIX 4.3.3. The problem is my server has a monochrome monitor and there is no compatible VGA card. This is not allowing me to start X windows which is crucial for Oracle Installation. Can anyone help me with this problem. Is there anyway X windows can be launched on Remote Host.

yes.
from windows
use hummingbird exceed or any tool like that.
set your display to remote ip (IP OF THE WINDOWS MACHINE);
start xhost(exceed) in remote pc.

from other unix machines, it really simple.

-- in remote machine
xhost +ORACLE_SERVER_NAME.DOMAIN

-- in ORACLE_SERVER
DISPLAY= IP_OF_REMOTE_MACHINE:0.0
export DISPLAY
