OS: AIX 4.3.3 level 11

Oracle: 8.1.7.4

Hardware: IBM H70 Quad Proc, 4 GB RAM, 2 dual channel SSA Adapters (6225)

SSA (D40) Drawer with Mirrored and Raid 5 disk arrays: (9 GB, 36 GB and 72 GB drives)

Problem: Async I/O issues occuring during Batch writes (large) reducing throughput to 350k sec.

I/O servers set to 70 Min/140 mac

Processor and Memory usage: Nominal (74+% proc time, plenty of mem avail)

Actions completed: Verified all AIX settings with IBM, Oracle verified as optimum with ORacle and other experts.

Planned steps: Mass write to disk without going through Oracle

Have IBM come confirm hardware as "satisfactory"

Punt.

Any
