compiling pl/sql procedures in sqlplus... [message #19981]

Hi,

Whenever i try to compile a .pls or .sql file from sql it doesn't compile but it gives a number after i type enter.

SQL>@c:plsqlp1.sql
38
39

it keeps on giving the numbers after i type enter.

Can u tell me why is this happening.
